We decided to go ahead with the outside of Canada application, even though we live in Canada as it is a faster process than the inside of Canada application. I am a Canadian sponsoring my Australian common-law partner.
All has gone well, and we are about to send off this week to Mississauga, Ontario.
We are wondering (from anyone who has been in this situation) whether it's best we pay online or via the bank? When you get to the payment link:
cic.gc.ca/english/information/fees/index.asp
... you'll notice it gives you two options:
- If you are applying at an office outside Canada
- If you are applying at an office inside Canada
Anyone know which option we go via (seeing as our application is an outside of canada application), even though we are inside Canada?
You can pay online or at the bank, the Sponsor for the most part should be living in Canada (unless they are living outside with their partner) it's the applicant who doesn't live in Canada that would have to use that outside option. (even tho your partner is here they are not living here, they are just visiting)
i'm in an identical situation, living in canada, applying to sydney VO. We chose the "applying outside canada" options and paid online. However, on my app I did use an australian residential address. Officially, i'm here on a temporary visa. I go in and out every few months. I always explain this to immigration when I land and they haven't have a problem with it so far.
Thank you for the tips. One more Question.... I am unsure about how many photo's to send (appendix B spec photos) the immigrant's checklist says 5. But I am wondering if this is for the Medical exam or separate. If it is separate from the medical ones, Do they have to be Identical to the medical ones? or just identical to each other?
This is separate for the ones required for medical. It is nice to have them all the same but not necessary as long as you hand in same ones to each place. For example, if you hand in 5 to VO then make sure those 5 are all same, and if you hand in 2 to medical, then make sure those 2 are exact same even if they are different from the first 5 for VO...
