I would like to know if someone could write down all the steps with approximate time for each stage of the Spousal sponsorship done outland.

Is it true that in some cases the sponsored person is given an answer right after the interview is concluded, or is there always a delay between the interview and the moment the final decision is given.

thank you for your help !

The application first goes to the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga. It takes them about 30 days or so to assess the sponsor's ap . . . if the sponsor is approved, the file gets transferred to the overseas visa office. Each office has its own processing timeline, so how long it will take and how the process evolves depends a lot on which visa office is processing the file. So, it's pretty hard to answer questions about exactly how things will go without knowing who will handle your file. Each case takes on its own unique process, really - like, for example, the interview question: some interviews are waived, some people get a decision at the interview, some people wait for months and months after an interview and still don't hear. Same with passport requests: some visa offices request the passport before they make a decision - early on in the process; others don't request the passport until approval has been made and they're ready to issue the COPR.

The only way to really get a good idea is to hook up with others who are also being processed at the same overseas office.

I am wondering about the Lima office...if anyone knows...

Try using Trackitt. It's a site for people to put up their timelines so others can see how long their case is taking.

You can filter by the type of visa, the office processing the application etc.

Go to http://www.trackitt.com and take a look. You should also put your own application on there so others can see how yours is progressing.

Yes, CIC mentions that it is faster. So, it is the same application package that I am referring to for outland. Thanks

So I would have to go to that visa Office if I am called for an interview, even if I live in Canada, right?

If you are required to attend an interview, it would be at the VO abroad. Interviews are not usually required.
