Hello
I applied for osap and I get approved and started my study one month ago, but yesterday they sent me a message that they could not verify my total gross income so my grant may converted into a loan if I didn't verify it.
I am a pr and I arrived 5 month ago but my husband living here since 2010. I filled his tax information and for me on total gross income I wrote zero since I was not working.
anyone know what is this situation and what I have to do ?

It is based on your family income not just yours, so you include your spouse’s income too. Based on your family income, you are eligible for an OSAP loan

Doesn’t matter that you were not in Canada, you are married to a PR or citizen so you include your spouse’s income is considered in the total. Don’t know your spouse’s income but at a certain threshold you are not eligible for a grant.

Right but they will combine your income because you are married and not an independant student. Your gross income will determine whether a loan or grant.
Contact OSAP but your family income determines whether you qualify for OSAP and whether you get a loan or grant. If you and your spouse don’t qualify as low income you would only qualify for a loan. Grants are only meant for a very small number of people. Many newcomers get around Thos by moving from another country and not declaring their true income or coming from a country where the currency is worth much less than the CAD so their previous year’s income falls under low income. Grants didn’t even exist when I went to school. OSAP was purely loans.
