I requested an option-C from CRA, on 26Jan2015, for the most recent year and they sent one for 2014. I don't understand why would they send 2014 option-c when I haven't even filed my taxes yet. So ofcourse it is bank. It says, "No Assessment Information found for 2014 tax year".
Should I ask for an option C again for 2013 year?
I have a print out from CRA website for 2013 assessment, as well as original Notice of Assessment for 2013 tax year (received when they assessed the taxes).
Should I wait another two weeks for 2013 option C? or
should I submit file with blank 2014 option c and 2013 notice of assessment. I have a job letter from my employer stating that I have worked there for past 3 years, I also have pay slips for 2014 year.
I would really appreciate any advice on this topic.
You are better off sending option c for 2013. what is the point of a blank one ?
If they request additional docs, it can delay ur process by 2 months. This is an important document for stage 1. why would u risk rejection ?
would u rather wait an additional 2 weeks or 2 months ?
hello...they release what you just requested regardless there's 0 or $ stated on it, you asked for 2014 and you got it, they took it literally though and did not informed you right away that its going to be blank lol when we called we were asked what taxable year we are requesting we said 2013 and 2014 and we got both...I know its frustrating for another week(s) will be wasted waiting for the option C....anyways goodluck!
Lesson learned. Their system should at least understand that Tax assessment can't be provided if you haven't even filed for taxes yet. Anyways, I'll mention that I was given a blank statement, I called them to see if they mailed it and the agent never said it is for 2014. I'll see if they can expedite the process.
More time to go over the file!
I'm going to look at the bright side, two week late but my application will be even more perfect.
Actually, I don't think you made a mistake. The most recent tax year (as of today) is 2013. Tax slips for 2014 will be mailed by end of February and there is no way anyone will have filed taxes, much less received a NOA from CRA. So the CRA employee should know that.
Anyway, how about checking if you have a CRA tax office in your city that provides this service? I know in some offices, one can get an original Option C on the spot.

I would just submit the blank 2014 Option C and your 2013 documents, along with an explanation and stating that you will forward the 2013 Option C to them as soon as you receive it.
