I am currently on an open work permit in Canada and have applied for Spousal Permanent Residency which is currently under process. My work permit is expiring in four months time and I am afraid my permanent residency application would not be completed by then. I am kind of confused should I be applying for Bridging Work Permit or is there any other type of work permit that I should apply for? Please advise .

You don't qualify for a Bridging Open Work Permit. BOWPs are only available to individuals who have applied for PR under an economic immigration stream.
If you were sponsor for PR through the inland route, then you can apply for an OWP based on the spousal sponsorship application.
