Open Work Permit-Timeline Sponsoring a Spouse-Inland

Hi guys, I will like to have your guidance. My boyfriend will be coming to Canada under a Working Holiday visa, and we will like to get marry before it expires. I am a permanent resident. I will like to request for an Open Work Permit once we get marry, with his application package.


The CIC webpage says it takes from 4 to 5 months for them to process the open work permit. Any chance it takes less or longer than 5 months for the open work permit?

3-5 months is average if your partner applies while in status. Consistently arrives within that timeframe. Depending how long your partner has on WHV when you get married it may be faster for you to apply outland while inside Canada while your partner still has the WHV.
