Hi all,
After reading Guide 5525, it says that you can include a paper version of the open work permit if applying under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada Class.
However I have been unable to find any guidance on what to do if applying under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner Family Class? Can I still combine this with the PR application?
Also I have separately downloaded form IMM 0008 a a few weeks ago, and noticed the form is dated 01-2020 whereas now the IMM 0008 form is using a 06-2020 date. If I submit a IMM 0008 01-2020 form with the completed information will this automatically be rejected for being out of date? Obviously having now caught this, I will transfer this over to the IMM 0008 06-2020 form.
Thanks for any help or insight you can provide!
A Family Class application is an 'outland' application and doesn't provide any eligibility to apply for a work permit in Canada. It's one of the things to consider when deciding whether to make an in-Canada or Family Class (outland) application. No work permit eligibility, no work permit application.
"Obviously having now caught this, I will transfer this over to the IMM 0008 06-2020 form."
Alas we'll never know if the 01-2020 version would have accepted.

Thanks for the prompt response. Apologies I am confused, perhaps I have misunderstood and sorry if this is a somewhat silly question. I am based in the U.K pursuing an outland common-law partner application, assuming the application is successful, would I then need to apply for a work permit? Seemingly the PR in itself will grant me the ability to work, if granted? Right?
No, once you become a PR you will not need to apply for any Canadian visa, permit or government leave to do anything you want . . . within the usual limits.
Thanks, so no further applications required. I am entitled to work, although I am not sure what you mean by the usual limits?
Just to clarify and put everything into perspective, if applying via the in Canada class, why would you also apply for an Open Work Permit - why not just wait for the PR to be granted and then work? Or does the Open Work Permit cover the interim period, allowing you to work, whilst you wait up to a year for the PR to be granted, if going for the in Canada class?
Sorry just trying to get my head around this, and understand the options here, thanks again!
The limits of the law and acceptable social behaviour.

Yes.
Thanks again, really helpful to have someone here to confirm my understanding. Have a great day!
