hi. im from the philippines and my uncle sponsored me via live in caregiver. Can i ask how long will it take to process my application in canadian embassy if i applied this week? I have the contract and other documents stated that i should start asap. thanks. im so worried that this processing will take several months or even years. hope theres someone who can help me and also experiences what i am experiencing.thanks a lot..really need ur help
skyfree - do you have 'actual' work experience as a live-in caregiver? You will need to have that. Another step not to be overlooked is your uncle will have to obtain an 'LMO' (or Labour Market Opinion) in order to have your application approved.

hi.I have already the LMO and the contract. I'm a nurse. do i still need to have a work experience as a caregiver? i dont think so. i've been a staff nurse for 2 years. thanks.
That should be fine then. Is your Uncle in Quebec? That would take longer. All the LC's we know applied from outside PH, Hong Kong for most if not all - and that would put you in the 6 month timeframe. It's common to do that since applications processed within PH take way too long! You would start with a 'conditional work permit', not "open". You can apply for PR after 2 years, the application for which takes SO long they allow you an 'open permit' while waiting.
NO. he's from ontario. do i still need to wait for 2 years? im also taking my masters to be end by march 2013. i hope i can process the papers here in canadian embassy asap. thanks
The '2 years' I mentioned is how long you must work in Canada as a 'caregiver' before you can apply for PR (and open permit). Sorry, don't know how long it will take to process from within PH.
