I & my Spouse are working in canada with canadian Work Permit. I want to change my job and work for a different company but by current work permit restrict to work for my current company only.
Now If I want to join another company and Work I have to an open work Permit. Please suggest if I can have a open work permit even after holding a work permit for current company. how can I switch my job?
You need the new employer to apply for your LMO proving that he has advertised the job and could not find any qualified Canadians or PR's. If he gets the LMO, you can apply for a new work permit. Once you get it, it is tied to your new employer and you can then not work for the old employer any more.
I suppose your spouse is now on an open work permit based on your permit. If your spouse is doing a skilled job, you can also change it around so your spouses employer applies for an LMO and your spouse gets a work permit tied to employer and then you can get an open work permit based on your spouses permit.
Both spouses can not have an open permit. For a spouse to have an open permit, the other spouse must have a skilled permit tied to employer.
You don't have to inform your current employer except to give him your notice before you quit, that is if you quit.
Your husband does not have to tell his employer if you apply for an open work permit based on your husbands permit. That is between you and your husband and does not concern his employer.
If you get an open work permit, your old work permit will be invalid but it doesn't matter because you can work for anybody, even stay with the same employer if you want to or go to another one or work for both of them.
