Hi I have this question since many time, many people tell me that this is possible... My wife came to Canada as an international student and me with an Open Work Permit beacuse I was accompanying her. Now she has finished her studies and she has applied for a Post Graduate Work Permit, so I would like to know if I can apply for the renew of my open work permit? she is working now but part time, she needs a job offer? I dont know because this web page (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/temp/work/opinion/policy.asp)
says :"The principal foreign worker must hold a work permit which is at a level that falls within National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Levels 0, A or B" but her post graduate work permit doesn't says nothing about he NOC because is technically a PGWP is an open work permit. I would like to keep working and my OWP expires at the end of march.
Please if you can check it and give your opinions could be useful for me thank you .

you cannot work and need to go on visitors permit if ur spouse is on PGWP and does not have a skilled job(NOC 0,A,B) until ur spouse get a skilled job

Does what I know, but two advisor told me that is possible... I don't know now! because the webpage says that I need to attach to my application (if my spouse is a skilled worker) her work permit with her NOC code which is show in the work permit. But a post graduate work permit doesn't show any NOC code. moreover I doesn't says about if the job has to be permanent or contract even full time or part time...

like i said it encompasses closed work permits, and other work permits too not just pgwp there is a section for pgwp below read that.
read the following link for better understanding for pgwp holders
