Open work permit for spouse

Hi I would like to know if one spouse has study visa and the other has visit visa for Canada, can the spouse holding visit visa change it to open work permit in Canada??

Also during the process of application of open work permit, can the spouse travel to home country?

Sure, your spouse with the study visa can always apply a SOWP for you even if you are on a visit visa and yes, you can travel home as you have a valid visit visa

not exactly precise about the time but if you applied a SOWP for your spouse along with your study permit application, it will take almost the same time length

Actually I meant to apply inside Canada because she would already be here....in that case how long it may take?

Hello Guys ,

My Wife has been to Canada before on visit visa .Her Visa expired in April 2018 . I am applying for study visa and I am thinking to apply for her visit visa as she has already been to Canada once for 2 months and came back on time .So she might get the visit visa easily .I'll be applying both the visa in different time frames .

What do you think about this process.Will it work ??

I think she would get it. I’m just saying on the basis of my own experience. My wife received visit visa because she had one before. I’m now working on SOWP...
