Hi,
My work permit expires on 17 June 2024 but I am still waiting for an ITA. I need to travel back to India for a few days urgently but am concerned if I will be allowed to re-enter with just a couple of days before my work permit expires. I am wondering if I can apply for a work permit extension to show at the border services. I have an open work permit with a full time job but I do not have an LMIA. Request urgent help and suggestions.
Thanks

That is the thing- I do not qualify for one but an immigration consultant said that I can apply for an extension to get some time to get an ITA. My CRS score increased in May this year but there hasn’t been a draw since then. Is there any other way to leave Canada and come back some days before my work permit expires?

IRCC is getting strict about people filing for extension they are not entitled to so you could get a denial and be out of status in a few weeks to maximum a few months. Depending on your score you should plan for a long period of time without the ability to work and may be best to stay in India until you get PR.
Thank you for your answer. My score is 546 with NOC 70012. I am hoping to get an ITA whenever the general draw comes but they haven’t been regular.
Not sure what a permanent solution would be without having to lose my job.
