Don't know if these is the best place to post this but here I go. I had a temporary closed work permit so had the right to health care in Ontario, I then changed to an open work permit and right after this my health card expired. In order to renew it I had to show an employer letter stating amount of hours worked a week, start date of work... Basically, it seems to me that if you have a valid health card you are covered wether you're working or not, but in order to get one you have to be working.
