Hi Everyone,
I have a sponsorship application in process for my husband overseas. I am currently in canada and we wantt apply for a visitor visa in the meantime... Can I sign up for an account online and submit an application on his behalf? or should my spouse do that from Lebanon, since he will be the applicant?

He is the one who submits the application. I guess you could fill it out in his name with his details, but if you don't have the required documents to attach, it may take a while.

It is easier if I fill it out, but is it considered any type of fraud if I set up an account on his behalf, using his information? I'm concerned because it can be traced back to where the application was submitted? Do we need a formal authorization of representative form?

Lana, no one will investigate this. Too many people on this form have mentioned doing online application for their spouse, parents, etc. Online applications do not require signature, so you can submit on your husband's behalf easily. Also, you can include the "Representative form" which indicates you are applying on behalf of the applicant. You can download all the forms at: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visa.asp
