Is it okay for me to get a one way ticket the first time going to Canada on an approved study permit and TRV? Or is a return ticket better in any way or a must? I really need to know soon since airline prices are rising exponentially

One is okay
 
In any case if you will be in Canada near or more than a year you could not buy a return anyway. Airlines generally only sell returns 330 days out from from day of purchase.
