Guys,
I was going to buy my one way ticket from my current city to Toronto and got surprised!
One way ticket: CAD 1240
Round trip tickets (total value): 880
Doesn't make sense! I obviously want to buy the round trip and simply "forget" about the return trip - simply discard it.
Is this ok? can it be done?
How odd!

It's not odd at all. One way tickets are almost always more expensive. This is a well known fact among frequent travelers. See reasons below:

Technically you can throw away the unused portion of the ticket. However if you do this too often, you can run into issues with the airline for future travel. If you're only planning on doing it once - it shouldn't be a problem.
Great news! It's a lot of money. Thanks
Is it best to cancel the return trip once I arrive or just forget about it?
Anybody do this already?

The airline will be happier with you if you cancel it because they can re-sell the seat.

I think the passenger who suppose to sit beside you would be happier if you forget it because of the extra seat. ;D
