OCI - Original Marriage certificate required?

Hi,
My original marriage certificate is in India, and I am planning to apply for OCI application.
Does anyone knows that original marriage certificate is required? I heard that it is not required if we do the postal OCI application via courier. Is that true? Or am I missing something here?

Is your spouse name mentioned in your Indian passport?

No, my spouse name not mentioned in passport.
but when I applied for surrender certificate, there I mentioned my marital status as Married.

In that case you will need marriage certificate.

Yes similar to mine. Did not had to add marriage certificate

Although it used to say in the checklist previously if spouse names are mentioned in the bio pages of each others passports then marriage certificates are not required, but BLS being BLS the way they are, they can throw in the last min curve ball on you and ask you to include to the marriage certificate and show the original one for verification (i.e. if you plan on submitting your application in person).
So so the short suggestion is include it
