I have a DUI plus dangerous driving conviction (all part of the same conviction) from when I was 21 (2001). A one off stupid mistake!
I'm from the UK and my sentence was community service which over here is deemed as 'spent' after 5 years and I'm assuming it's the same as Canada.
I work for a huge multi national firm and they want me in Canada before the end of the week. I know they have good immigration lawyers working on this but after doing some research this morning, certainly doesn't look very hopeful.
I know I can apply for rehab but just to get the relevant paperwork over here could take months!
I've held a 6 month working visa for Australia since my conviction, would this help my case?
Have I got any chance of getting into Canada by the end of the week? I doubt it!
I'm thinking is it possible to gain a TRP at the border whilst they are processing my rehab forms?

1. No, Australia is not Canada.
2. No, not without Rehab.
3. Very unlikely, you would probably find yourself on the next plane.
4. Your employer is going to have to wait. I assume your lawyers are applying for a TRP at London?
I have told all this to my bosses but they are convinced I won't have a problem. I don't know how much sway these large firms hold over this kind of thing but I was informed the immigration lawyers are sorting it. I haven't got a clue what they are doing. I just wanted some ammo for my next argument tomorrow with them!
I really can't get my head around being potentially blanked because of driving convictions?! Madness!
Just an update on my post....
I'm sat in my office on bloor streets with my 6 month TRP and 6month work permit in my hand and having no trouble what so ever in getting them either!
