Hi, I am chinese citizen and had a previous two convictions (fraud and considered major in Canada) - the sentences (10 years) were combined and ended in March 2013. I am applying for a criminal rehabilitation to canada so I can in future apply for TRP or immigration and know that it has to be at least 5 years after end of sentence. The checklist ask for "A criminal clearance from the police authorities in all countries (including Canada) where you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18" but in China, I have not been able to get this clearance because I do have a previous conviction and so in china they say they cannot issue this PCC. Does anyone know what I should do to get the information that Canada needs for my criminal rehabilitation? Thank you very much!
You apply without a police clearance from China and instead provide a letter of explanation in place of the certificate saying that it is not issued for persons with prior convictions.
By the way, if you had two convictions for the same type of offense. I.e. you committed the same crime again after being released, your chances of being approved for rehabilitation become very slim.
