Obtaining Police Clearance Certificate from Another State in India

Hi All/ Experts,

I need to know the exact procedure for applying police clearance certificate for Canada, My passport was issued in June 2013 from Delhi (Delhi State) and currently in july 2013 i am residing in Mumbai (Maharashtra) with my family. For spousal sponsorship i need to get PCC applied, hence i was wondering whether should i apply for PCC from Delhi or Mumbai RPO ?

I also read some post that if your Passport address is different from current address then the passport will be re-issued (i.e. if i apply from mumbai then new passport will be issued as address on passport is of delhi) I need to know if that is true for all the cases ? even though the passport was issues in June 2013 ?

Also pls guide from where should i apply for PCC (From Mumbai or From Lucknow).

go personally to Police Commissioner Officer near Metro - 1st Floor - form and fee, takes about 1 month
PCC is for India as a whole, doesn't matter if from other state

as per the post, seems like rule is changed from Aug 2012 "all the miscellaneous services like PCC would need a new passport (if current city and passport documented city is different)"

the reason I am worried is that i have already applied at mumbai RPO and they just took my papers(new address proof), the online status shows no update and it has been over 2 weeks now and nothing is moved.

should i cancel my application from mumbai RPO and resubmit from Delhi since the passport was recently issued, I need to save time as this is urgent.

pls help with the above info.

Thanks, I tried calling them and visiting them but they are reluctant to provde any info and the only answer you get is to wait for the status update online

May be someone can help here with there views/experience

Do you think that the new rule is valid for passport issuance from aug 2012 for different address ??

Guess it doesnt matter. My passport was issued in INdian Embassy- USA but I got my PCC from India with no issue.
