...now what?

Hey everyone

My wife and I sent out our outland application (Applying from the UK) near the end of August (August 19 I believe), with a tracked delivery to Mississauga, where they received it a few days later.

We have yet to receive any sort of confirmation or communication of any sorts. What should we be expecting to receive -- will they email us, or send us a letter to our home address? I've tried searching online, but cannot seem to find anything which states exactly what we should be looking for and by what means.

If you provided an e-mail address in your application, they will notify you via e-mail when they have finished assessing the sponsor. Last I recall, this can take anywhere from 1-3 months.

Have you tried logging in to eCAS to check your application status?

If not, it might be worth using the receipt number you have (if you paid online) to login. CIC website will tell you how to check your application online.

That's great -- didn't know it would take that long, so we'll hold tight

Also had no idea we could check online without actually getting the ID / Ref number from CIC, so I'll take a look at our online receipt.

You can check the spousal sponsor processing times here

The page hasn't been updated since the 29th of September when they were working on spousal applications received 7th of August.

So two weeks ago (ish) they were working on applications received two weeks (ish) before yours. You should hear something within the next week or so but keep an eye on that page for it to update.
