Hi all,
I am recent graduate from Alberta(masters). Currently in Canada with 3 years work permit. I have a permanent job offer in Halifax with NTT Data. For Nova Scotia Skilled Worker Category it says on the page as under:
" NOTE: Positions in all skill level occupations must receive competitive wages for their industry or sector as per the Governement of Canada Website"
I wonder what does competitive wages mean here? My occupation falls under NOC 2281-B and wages for this occupation in Halifax region are Low: 19.23 Median: 29 and High: 43.29. These are all dollars per hour.
I have got offer at 45k/year. Calculating per hour would be less than 29 which is Median. Does it mean I will be disqualified?
I would appreciate someone's input on this.
Thanks

Median is not considered bad. You shouldn't be disqualified.

No basically I will be getting around 24/hr(though its permanent position with benefits and salary 45k a year not hourly) which is less than median(29/hr).

Have you accepted the offer? How did you count and get that 24/hr? Shouldn't it be 21? Since its a 40hr work week that makes it about 2080 hours per year. So you're making a 21/hr rate. Anyhow, IMHO, they are low-balling you.

Yeah actually it should be $21-22/hr. My question is this would lead to disqualification? I am not clear what competitive wages mean. May be they want the salary to be within that low to high range i.e. $19 to $34. Could you please illustrate.
