I am a Canadian Citizen and I applied to sponsor my husband to become a permanent resident. Both applications (sponsorship and permanent residency) were submitted to Vegreville on November 23rd 20009. Our documents were being reviewed since early February 2010.
Because of serious family issues we need to travel to Greece and visit our father the next few weeks. Since my husband has not received his first stage approval yet, will he be able to return to Canada? (His Visa expires August 20th 2010). Does he need to submit any forms/documents (travel document)?
Is the VISA Multiple entry or single entry? If it is Multiple entry he will be okay as long as he returns to Canada before it expires...if it is single entry then he will have to apply again for a visit visa.....btw which country is your husband from?
I had the same issue in March- we went to Greece while my partners visa was still valid- he came to Canada to visit in December, so his visa was valid until June. After returning from Greece, the immigration officer in Toronto gave us a REALLY hard time- he said he didn't have to grant him a new visa, blah blah. He finally did, but in all honesty, if it's not ABSOLUTELY necessary, I wouldn't leave the country.
