Does it require to have passport for non accompanying child under age 18 ? In the application form it asks for passport detail. So can i choose NO for the question "Do you have valid passport " for my child ?

I really wish some senior replies to you, because I am neither married nor have kids. In my humble opinion you would not need to have a passport for a non accompanying child. In any case you can always add an addendum to the form where you provide a explanation. For most part I think the CIC seems to be reasonable.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. Actually i don't want to go for my baby's passport at this moment if that is not necessary for the application. I will add an addendum if i don't get any other proper suggestion. Thanks :)

If it's for a new born child then CIC does consider. You can say NO and then provide a coverletter explaining the situation. However, you should start preparing the passport even for non-accompanying family members. The only thing you don't need to provide for non-accompanying family members is the additional application fees.

Hi namaste,

Thanks for your reply.

I will then add a cover letter. But can it happen that CIC will ask for my baby's passport in the middle of the application process ? If that happens then the process will be delayed. I don't want to make my baby's passport at this moment if i can go without it. What you say ?

You will be asked to submit it later by the VO, not by CIC. It will be at least 3-4 months before that happens, so you should really apply for the child's passport. The checklist asks for the passport copies of all the family members.
