Hi,
I am a Canadian permanent resident. I have been for 2 years.
I added my children as non accompanying as requested when I applied. They did their medicals, and I have UCI # for them.
My question is:
What is the procedure to bring my 17 year old daughter here now. She wants to come here to live with me .
Any idea how long it takes? Is there anything that could stop her getting Permanent residency here?

Thanks in advance.

Oh - and plan on 6-8 months for processing from the time you submit your application.

Thanks for the reply Scylla

Can she come here while it is being processed?

She can visit but not technically move here. She won't be covered by the health care system while here as a visitor so make sure you take out insurance to cover emergencies (any regular treatment will have to be paid out of pocket).

Tricky to say what will happen when it comes to attending schools. Technically she needs a study permit and you would need to pay around $15K in tuition per year since she's an international student. Some schools are willing to waive this if you can show that she has a PR application in progress. But ultimately up to the individual school. I would ask around now before moving her here and finding out you have to pay international student tuition.

EDIT: Also, she will not be able to work at all until she is a PR (sometimes students want part time work).
