NOC code change

Hi , I have a query regarding my Noc code. I am in closed Work permit with NOC code 2174 provided by my employer. But my job duties and roles are exact match for 2173, but I found out the issue only now when checking my code for PR application. My wp goes for extension now and employer mentioned they would apply for change in NOC code during extension to relevant code under 2173. my doubt is should I wait for 1 year to apply for PR after my wp is extended with new code. Or is it better to stick with previous Noc code. I am really confused. my manger is not providing approval if I try to match 2174 for PR experience. please suggest me.
