I have read on this site that cooks are eligible for Express Entry CEC, The category is NOC 6322 level B.
Is working as a KFC cook eligible for this program? I'm expecting PGWP in a few months.

No - not eligible. You won't be classified as a cook (NOC 6322). You'll be classified under NOC 6711 (food counter attendant, kitchen helper). NOC 6711 is a skill level D NOC and this experience isn't eligible under either CEC or Express Entry.

Cooks are eligible for express entry either its pizza cook or KFC cook or other cook. Cook belongs to NOC 6322.

OP would not be classed as a cook. As scylla said, the job falls under NOC 6711 and is not skilled.

An actual cook is someone who has qualified through formal training as a cook to prepare a variety of meals from scratch as shown in NOC 6322.

Someone working in a pizza place or a KFC or Mcdonalds could never be considered as a professional cook given they need little formal training to flip burgers, deep fry chicken or put a pizza in a pizza oven versus an actual cook working in a restaurant preparing a la carte meals to order.

Incorrect. Fast food kitchen jobs aren't classified as cooks. As others have explained, there's no specialized skill required. It's an unskilled job and doesn't qualify under CEC.

Fine but in the end someone in a KFC 'kitchen' is not a cook in the true sense as defined in 6322 NOC Also they would need to meet the employment/training requirements and doubtful for any fast food 'cook' who generally can be unskilled labor working with pre-prepared food to a
fixed preparation schedule.

If the OP is not convinced then fine they can try spending a few years in a KFC on a PGWP then apply and who knows may get approved but doubtful without having the professional cook qualifications to back it up. Any cook who has invested time in training to be a professional cook you might think would be insulted to see someone with no formal training working in a KFC get PR and them not if that should happen.

Employment requirements

  • Completion of secondary school is usually required.
  • Completion of a three-year apprenticeship program for cooks
    or
Completion of college or other program in cooking or food safety
    or
Several years of commercial cooking experience may be required.
  • Trade certification is available, but voluntary, in all provinces and territories.
  • Red Seal endorsement is also available to qualified cooks upon successful completion of the interprovincial Red Seal examinatio

Usually KFC cook are hired as NOC 6322.
If any confusions directly contact KFC or see jobs in job bank.

They may be hired that way by KFC. However how CIC evaluates the jobs is an entirely different matter. KFC is not CIC. All that matters is what CIC thinks. What KFC says doesn't matter and contacting them is pointless.

I think its not platform to argue because company are obligated to follow the rules and regulations of government of canada and they are not allowed to provide false informations and noc . So none of the members in this forum can make conclusion.

Any updates in this subject @ Student2012 ?

Not really wanting to prolong this debate and what you say may be true but ultimately it is down to the applicant to show that they have the relevant skills , perform the duties specified and qualifications that map to any NOC code. So the onus is on both parties to not show any misrepresentation and agree only CICs view is important not anyone on a public forum.

Still an interesting debate/precedent that anyone spending a lot of money to become chefs/cooks through a college course need not bother but just work in a KFC or Big Mac not just in Canada but overseas as well deep frying chicken or flipping burgers to gain experience to be classified as a cook. If it works then good luck to anybody who succeeds, ultimately only CIC can say yes.

Like you am sure everyone is interested whether the OP succeeds as that could open a whole load of opportunities for all the 'cooks' out there.
