If your name is upinder Kaur, put upinder in first name and Kaur as surname for EE. On PR visa CIC itself will put all of your name in given name. That's what happened to me. It's up to them to decide. You just make it work for the system to accept it.
I am similar case. I put first name in first name and last name in last name at time of creating my EE profile.
After getting ITA, the system does not allow you to leave first name or last name blank. so i put first name in first name and last name in last name and wrote letter of explanation that how my name is on passport. It worked for me..
What do you mean by surname?
Your surname is your family name. It is sometimes called your “last name.” If your name is spelled differently on your official documents, please write your name as shown in your passport. When filling out applications, type your surname as it appears on your passport, travel or identity document or any letters you got from the visa office or case processing center where you sent your application (even if the name is misspelled). Do not use initials.
If you do not have a family name on your passport, travel or identity document, enter all your given name(s) in the surname field and leave the given name field blank. Do not enter “*”, “Not applicable” or “NA”.
I have an Indian passport and I also do not have a Surname (Last Name) in my passport and I have put my whole name (XXXX YYYY) in the last name (Family Name) field in my EE profile.
That is how my attorney did it for my current Canadian work permit and that is how senior members have agreed upon when asked about this in the past.

Hi Nidakh,
Thanks for sharing the info, I did the same like u said while creating my EE profile, since me or my wife is not having a last name in our passports. Now since I got the ITA yesterday, while entering application/profile details under Family section where I need to enter the names (First Name+Last Name), dob, relation etc., I am confused what to mention if there is no last name on any document as both first name and last name columns are compulsory. Kindly advise.
