I just moved to canada so I dont have any jobs landed yet. The cic site says there is no minimum income requirement if you are sponsoring your spouse. all I have is some bank saving from the job I did before coming to canada. Also not receiving any social assistance .
my question is will I be okay to file sponsorship application while not having a job yet. ( there is zero income but do have a bank balance to support my spouse)
Pls let me know
You have to show how you plan to support a spouse if you have no income. Make sure you detail carefully your savings, so they see that while you don't have income coming in just now, you are capable of meeting her short-medium term needs. You should also give indication of any job searching you are carrying out, and if your wife has proficiency in English/French, professional qualifications or a trade, you should detail those as well, to show that she is employable in Canada.
I have some bank account balances from bank in USA. can I just show the bank statements? what other proofs can I show?
I am also using a consultant and my consultant is stating I have to have job first inorder to file sponsorship application. I know this is not true but how do i proceed further. is there a web link where it explains in detail?
Your consultant is giving you good advice, but it's not a requirement to have a job in order to sponsor. What he/she is probably driving at is that it's better to have an income. That said, you could use the bank statements, proof that you are actively looking for a job, letters from your landlord stating that you have a lease or a letter from the bank stating that you have a mortgage. Having a place to stay will be good for you...
You shouldn't have any problems. Just make sure you explain everything in detail.
