Hi there. I'm marrying my Canadian fiance this weekend ( ) and I was just wondering about obtaining a NEXUS card around the same time I'll be applying for PR (The plan being, getting the NEXUS before sending in the PR app, but after my marriage). Will they let me? Does it really help that much? I plan on 'visiting' Canada during the PR process and I had heard that having a NEXUS card will make crossing easier. I will be working until June (getting paid until September) and will be able to prove that. Thanks!
-To add more info, although I will be getting married now, I will not be leaving the US for an extended period of time until the end of June. Thanks!
If you're a US citizen, you can apply for NEXUS now, no need to wait until you submit the PR application. If you plan on a lot of back-and-forth crossings to visit your spouse while the PR application is in process, it will be good to have the card. It never guarantees you entry into Canada though, and you still need to be aware of the regulations surrounding temporary residence. There's a good overview here.
Thanks for the info! I don't plan on crossing a great deal, I just want to minimize the trouble I could encounter. I have young nieces and nephews I would miss greatly if I had to stay out of the states for 6 months, but if that's what it takes I will. Hopefully I won't have any trouble. Thanks again

I just mean not wanting to take the risk of leaving and reentering Canada during my PR application Although I'll be outland, I know it's still risky sometimes.
