I am a new PR holder and want to apply for nexus card. I have been in US for 8 yrs now.
Dont have my PR card yet so applying paper application for Nexus
Any idea how much time its taking for nexus card done via paper application from US?
When i see the processing timelines, it says 20 days but not sure if thats general or for paper or online application
TIA

Are you a US citizen or GC holder? If not, then I believe you need to be a PR for 3 years before being eligible for NEXUS.
If you are eligible, it unlikely that 20 days timeline is for when you will get a NEXUS card. It is likely just to process your application. You will need to do an interview and that can take time depending on which location you choose to do it.
I dont understand. I am on H1-B in US for 8 yrs. I thought you need to be in either Canada or US (and be say a PR holder of Canada) for 3 yrs to be eligible for nexus.
Is this not correct anymore?

Incorrect, you need to have 3 years residency and also be a PR holder, it's not necessarily 3 years as a PR holder. Plenty of people I know have Nexus despite being PR holders for less than 3 years.
Thanks guys.
So if I do go ahead and everything falls in place, how much time can I expect from application filing till interview?
Thanks guys.

Not sure for paper. I applied online on March 9th and am still waiting for conditional approval.
Thanks guys.

It depends on which office your choose. Some have a longer waiting time than others. But you can choose when and where you want the interview. You can see the booking calendar of all the offices and choose. For example, I live in Toronto so the closest office is Pearson Airport. But the waiting time for an interview is often several months. I chose to drive to Fort Erie which had some openings only a week later.
My above reply is regarding the time from conditional approval to the interview. As for how long to get to conditional approval via paper application, I don't know. There are also other variables depending on your application so it is hard to say. When I first got NEXUS in 2011, it took me about one month to get conditional approval. When I renewed in 2016, it took maybe 3 months. It also took my wife about 3 months back in 2014. both my wife and I applied via on-line (GOES)
Update: my conditional Nexus approval came today, just need to schedule interview now.
To be clear, I have approx. 3 years and 4 months Canadian residency but only 1 year 6 months of that is as PR (the rest was under TWP). It seems like 3 years residency and a PR holder are the requirements.

So it does not need to be 3 yrs residency in Canada on PR, correct? I can be say in US for continuous 3 or more years plus Canadian PR?
