Good Day and Greetings!

I am an Immigrant Visa holder and planned to move Canada in November 2015, but now my wife is pregnant and we are expecting our third baby in February 2016 whereas my Immigrant visa will expire in April 2016. Unexpectedly my wife is not in a position to travel and doctor advise her for a complete bed rest. In that situation I have to cancel my ticket for November 2015 and have to move in March 2016 after my wife gave birth.
In that case I need experts’ opinion what should I have to do?
• Should I go with my existing plan by taking risk and move myself along my family to Canada, so that the newborn should born in Canada?
o If so then what will be the status of newborn in Canada?
o Or do I have to apply for his/her PR while living in Canada?
• Should I go with my existing plan and move myself along with my family to Canada, after getting PR within 10 days come back to home country where my wife could give birth to baby?
o If so then what will be the status of newborn?
o Is he shall be eligible for PR and return with us to Canada?
o Or I have to file his/her application again for PR?
• Should I inform my immigration officer about the expected change and wait till birth in my home country?
o In that case what do I have to do to get the PR for newborn?

Guys I don’t have much time and I need your opinion on this.

Kind regards,

If your child is born in Canada, she/he will be Canadian citizen. The child would not need PR card.

Otherwise, if your child will be born outside Canada you would need to return your immigrant visa to the visa office and tell them you are expecting a child and would need to add it to your visa. If you land in Canada before baby is born in your home country, you cannot sponsor the baby for Canadian immigration.

It looks like you want your child to be a PR instead of being automatically Canadian, so to have the baby born in your home country while you return your immigrant visa to the visa office would be your best bet.
