Newbie question on bringing wife to Canada while PR application is in process.

I'm getting married in May of 2022. We are going to file a sponsorship application for PR once we marry. My soon to be wife is Jamaican and lives in Jamaica. I am a Canadian citizen and I live in Canada.
I was watching this youtube clip CANADA ANNOUNCES NEW IMMIGRATION RULES FOR 2022 | CANADA IMMIGRATION 2022
It mentions allowing spouses to obtain a visitor visa to Canada while they wait for the processing of the PR application.
Is this true or just another youtube video with no substance?

Well it's true in that it's an announcement. I'd put that in the "vaporware" category for now.

I've no doubt they intend to do this but safe bet is it will take a while.

And that when it is implemented, it will cover far, far fewer cases than many would like and many will be unhappy.

(I don'tean to be too pessimistic - It might still be a big change - but lots of unhappy folks is guaranteed in IRCC territory.)

100% I agree anyone hanging hopes on this program is sure to be disappointed.

So what should I do? Submit the sponsorship application and then submit an application for my wife to get a visitor visa? W are going to apply in June this year. we are getting married in May.

Truth is chances of your wife getting a TRV after marriage to a citizen is slim as the VO will question her intent and if she meets the definition

She is the one who applies for the TRV (not you). She can apply for the TRV either before or after you submit the spousal sponsorship application. Both are options.
