I am male in my late 20s and plan on visiting my bestfriend (also male) who lives in Toronto during the summer time and would like input from the community to know if I may have any issues.
Applying for TRV, only about 7 days where we'll visit some tourist locations and experience the night life.
Common reasons for refusal I'm worried about:
Strong ties to home country
- I live with my guardian and don't pay rent. I do not own assets, I have less than $1000 EC however I plan on taking a loan to finance the trip.
Travel History
- I've traveled to Barbados in 2001
My work place wrote a letter of recommendation/job letter for my Visa and I also have the invitation letter and bank letter.
I would recommend you save a bit before taking the trip. In my opinion as you have little money and applying for a loan to finance the trip will not look good. You should get a letter of invitation from your friend, that would certainly help. The letter from you employer will help, but as you don't have any assets, this will go against you too. All you can do is get the letters and write a very strong SOP, highlighting why you need to go back to your home country. Are you staying with your friend or in a hotel?

SOP = statement of purpose. It is basically a letter that lists why you want to go there, what you are planning to do, why you need to come back to your home country after the visit. I'm sorry about your grandmother, but that is a good reason for you to go back home and not stay in Canada. There is no real set amount you need to show, but I would recommend a few thousand cad over and above you air fare etc.

Should I show medical records as proof she has cancer within the SOP? A ticket to Canada is about $2000 in my currency. I can definitely save $3000 before July.
