I am working in Montreal for last 15 months as a Temporary foreign Worker(Software Engineer came as Intra Company Transferee, a closed work permit),

An employer from NB Province Approached me for Potential Job Offer, they are ready for processing the LMO and Work Permit.

I would like to know, whether I am eligible to change my job when I am working for my current employer?

If the Work Permit is a closed one then are there any restriction for changing the Job?

If the new employer processed a work Permit then the Old one will be invalid?

Please give your valid advice.

Thanks & Regards

You are allowed to change your job as long as the new employer in New Brunswick gets an LMO and you get a new approved work permit for that job. Remember you cannot start working at the new job until AFTER the new LMO and work permit have been received.

A closed work permit means you can only work for that employer, at that job, in that location. No changes permitted without new authorizations – meaning new LMOs if necessary and new work permits.

Work permits are issued to you (the worker), not to the employer. If you apply for and get a new work permit, then the old one will be invalidated.

Hope that helps.
