Hi All,

I thought this was important news to share:

1. Changes to TFW Regulations

New regulations for the Temporary Foreign Worker Program will come into force on April 1, 2011. Here are some of the main changes:

a. Employers who violate rules will not be able to get a new LMO for two years

b. Temporary Foreign Workers will only be able to stay in Canada for four years, then they will have to leave the country for four years.

i. The calculation of the four years will begin on April 1, 2011, so time in Canada before April of next year will not count

ii. The four years will be cumulative. If you come to Canada and go home, then come back, all of the time spent as a TFW in Canada will be counted.

Here are the links with information about these changes:

2. Changes to Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP)

The government has announced that is it cutting the following programs from AINP:

a. AINP Family class

b. US Visa holder category

Hi everyone,
I would assume this does not affect the NAFTA professional worker program where a U.S. citizen can receive a work permit at the border?
Thanks,
Kelly
