What kind of work experience do I need to apply for permanent residence under the Canadian Experience Class?
To apply for permanent residence under the Canadian Experience Class, your skilled work experience must:

1)be in a job classified as skill type 0, or skill level A or B according to the 2011 National Occupational Classification,
2)amount to at least one year of full-time (or an equal amount in part-time) in the previous three years,
3)have been with an employer in Canada (self-employment does not count),
4)be gained with the proper legal authorization (for example, as a documented worker with a valid work permit), and
5)not be gained while you were studying on a student permit.

Correct me if I'm wrong guys. Does the sentence in bold denote the time I worked part time while studying in a 2-year Master's program (2 years of part time) won't be counted towards the first requirement? That I will need to work full time for another year for that requirement AFTER getting the Master's degree? :o :o :o :o :o :-X :-X :-X :-X

I know I could apply under PNP. I'm just really curious about that last stipulation.

Here I found a different wording of that requirement.

You must:

have at least 12 months of full-time (or an equal amount in part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in the three years before you apply,
have gained your experience in Canada with the proper authorization,
meet the required language levels needed for your job for each language ability (speaking, reading, writing and listening),
plan to live outside the province of Quebec.
Self-employment and work experience gained while you were a full-time student (for example, on a co-op work term) does not count under this program.

Tell me all I need is coffee not another year.

It's not a new requirement. For CEC, any work completed during your studies has never counted.

So yes - you're right. Any work completed part time during your studies (also full time during summer breaks) won't be counted towards the 1 year work experience requirement for CEC. And yes - you will need to work full time for another year after completing your Master's before you can apply for CEC.

But again, this is not a new rule. It's been like this for years.
