Hello everyone,
I have applied for PR under CEC category and expecting to receive AOR sometime next week (Hope so :)) Since my passport was expiring I applied for new passport at Vancouver jurisdiction which I received today but surprisingly it has Canadian address instead of Indian permanent address. I will send the copy of my new passport along with PCC once I get AOR.
My question- Should I request consulate to change the address on my passport. I assume their should be permanent address on it. Please advice

No, The consulate is correct. If the passport has been issued in Canada, it will have your Canadian residential address and not the permanent address in India.

Hi Vyasd,

Even I have the canadian address on my renewed passport. I don't think it matters. Even I applied under CEC with the new passport :)

Thank you guys!! That's comforting...Atleast now I don't have to go through the whole process of passport renewal.

So, now your passport have new number new start and expiry date , but what did you mentioned in your application? Old passport details? Then i think you need to re-look into this issue....
There must be some clause about passport validity when you applying for PR

Since my passport was expiring in Dec, 2013 ideally I should have renewed my passport before applying for PR. But now since I have already applied, do you think sending the copy of new passport with the explanation would suffice as long the application is complete and others docs are valid.
Actually I wasn't aware that new passport will have everything new in it including my address :)

New Passport number should not be an issue.

On your new Indian passport, last page would be printed with your old passport number, issue date and place of issue. Just to be more clear add a covering letter explaining this.

Hmm funny, on my old passport I applied in a different country and the permanent address mentioned there was still India.
