Hi people, I have send the immigration papers in about a week ago. I had no idea what I was doing and did not send them with a special courier - so do not know if they were even recieved.
I am in need of some ideas and advice from your lovely selves.
Question: is it possible to work in Canada (get a work permit) issues whilst the residency application is being done over that long length of time. I was advised through MP's office to send in a work permit with the papers for the PR. But I think this was a bad idea?
I just want to work here, have I dont things the wrong way around?
I cant get a SSN without a WP. So how do you all wait for a work permit with no wages coming in ( I am already landed here 8 August)
If you sent an "in Canada" or inland application, then you could have sent an open work permit application. ONly this type of application carries a work permit.
Otherwise it's a pretty difficult task to get a work permit.
Not having a tracking number, or delivery confirmation is going to add even more angst to your plate...until you (hopefully) hear something.
Why do you feel that the MP's suggestion was a bad idea?
Did you submit an INLAND application? If you did, and you still have legal status, you can still submit the Open Work Permit. It will take ~4 months to receive and the total cost is $255. If you submitted an Outland application, disregard this information because you are not eligible for the OWP.
When you say that you `landed' here 8 August, you mean that you `arrived' in Canada as a visitor, right?
If you qualify for the OWP, you will then take that to a Service Canada office to get your temporary SIN, so that you can work.
If you can find a way to work remotely via the internet, or phone, and find opportunities outside of Canada, you will not need a work permit.

Then as Ponga suggested, get on filling out and submitting an OWP application. . 255$ and a 4 month wait.
You might want to wait until CIC acknowledges your PR application. When they do, print a copy of email and enclose it with your OWP application package.
