If I apply in Person and choose to receive the new Passport by ordinary mail; anybody knows how long it may take in North York? What the additional cost would be?

Don't know about North York, but in Vancouver it took me 7 working days and $160 per person.

1. Usually it takes about a week to return (when opted for regular post). Many folks receive it in 4-5 days as well.
2. No additional cost. It is only when you request personal pick-up that you have to pay an addnl fee.

Smartest way to do it!

I received mine 2 business days after applying... regular application (no express and no pick up). I applied on Friday, got it on Monday evening. Canada Post left me a note to pick at their closest location. I was pleasantly shocked. I guess it depends on where you live as well and their workload. I don’t think it should take more than 5 business days.

Took 2 weeks to get it with Service Canada. Still faster than their estimated processing time, which is 4 weeks. They mailed the application all the way to Gatineau from the GTA for processing.

Best to apply in person at the passport office.

I am filling the new passport application Online and thought of printing it; but it does not allow me to fill in Guarantor's name and his other details; is it to be hand-filled?

The Guarantor section has to be hand-filled by a guarantor. Filling it online defeats the purpose of a guarantor.
