Hi,
Hope someone can chime in. I am Canadian and I am married to a Colombian. Wedding was in Toronto and she has visitor visa for Canada. She lives in Colombia.
I have applied once and paperwork came back. I had to redo some of the paperwork. I applied again and I received a text confirmation on Oct 6. Since then I have tried several time to search for my application and got nothing. Is this common? Also I know it takes a year to process, but what should be the next step?
Did you request text updates. You should get an email saying they received your application on what date and also the date they started processing it. They will give you an application number. Not long after they will send information about the sponsor whether they are approved. Are you also the representative?
oh... much appreciated. I did not receive an email, just the text. So the next step it is the announcement for the process. Awesome... Much appreciated.
Any idea of timeline between receiving and process?

it was about a month so you should hear something soon. Do you have a representative because they will be getting all the information
No I don't. Since I don't expect any complications, I didn't hire anyone. Not sure if it was a smart decision or not.
Hopefully I will hear something soon. Thanks for clarifications and your help.

right now its taking 40-50 days from their accepting the package to sending you the aor1 or acknowledgement of receipt. the good news is the 12 month window timeline starts when they take receipt of the package. total timeline is very erractic, I see some people done in as fast as 3 months, some 5-7 months, and many up to a year. If your app falls into the "straightforward" category with little or no red flags that helps a lot. the applicants background, work, travel, military affects the speed of the background check.

It was a smart decision. Paying someone will not make things go faster. I hope you hear something soon, the you will have to link your application on gckey. I’m here to help, anything you need

It was a good move for me. there were a few instances that they corrected my app that in hindsight unchecked would have 1.)delayed the app 2.)maybe returned because of the errors, 3.) they also assisted with organizing the supporting documentation that probably reduced the likelihood of an interview. I firmly believe my app is at least more straightforward than it would have been without help. if its 10% better that's money well spent
I.e. I have a daughter she has no kids. we put no children in her info thinking that was correct, but that was wrong, she now has a step daughter. stupid little mistakes I made that they caught I am very grateful for.

I guess it’s good for some. The application is a daunting task, I was terrified to make a mistake.
