Neep help.....spouse dependent work permit

My wife got a visitor visa and she is here with me in canada. We applied for her open work permit as I have valid pgwp until 2017. Now her application is under process and her visitor stay (not her visitor visa which expire in 2017) is about to expire on Dec 2. We applied in Jun with upfront medical exam.I just wanted to know that if don't receive her work permit until her visitor stay expires does she go on implied status or we have to do visitor extension ( which is again 3-4 months) I m totally confused plz help

hi I am currently international student can I apply for my wife but her age is 17 years if someone has idea or experience please let me know.
