I'm a Canadian citizen and recently returned with my child (born outside of canada) home. Him mother though remained behind. She is pregnant and is due october. I'm trying to process her PR app but she would not make it in time to deliver the baby here knowing the long process of this application. So i'm trying to know if there is a way i could get her to come here to canada where she can deliever her baby on a visitor visa as she is by herself in Kampala and really need me to be there during her giving birth to the child.
She could apply for a Visit Visa but the likelihood of her getting it is very slim to not happening. Hopefully the PR application process will be fast.
Depending on your province, you will have to pay out of pocket for the birth. Visitors aren't covered by most provincial healthcare even if they are married to a Canadian. (Alberta is an exception.) So if she comes to Canada, she will need to show the IO she has expenses for the birth on hand.
As it was already said, the chances of her getting a visitor's visa are low. If you already have sponsor approval, you can try again (but I would only do that if you can afford the gamble with the fee). She will need to show considerably assets and a reason to return to Kampala after her visa expires. That will be very hard to do with a husband and child in Canada.
