Thanks for all the replies.

2000 canadian dollers every 6 months for med insurance and not per year, that is expensive and so my worry that it shd be sustainable in the long run.

which one works best,2 year supervisa or 10 year supervisa? the costs for each?

There is only 1 supervisa. It is for 10 years, but must be renewed every 2 years.

Application costs are minimal, its the medical insurance cost which is the big cost driver, and that cost depends totally on the applicant and their health history.

Does anyone know,if they grant PR immediately on sympathy grounds for dependant parent?

Its called Humanitarian and Compassionate grounds, you can try once parent is in Canada - its case by case, but by far one of the most difficult ones to get approved for

I see.Hmm....not easy I guess but have to try and hope for the best.

I would avoid H&C. I think there's very little chance of success given your mother has lived on her own for 2 years already.

I would bring her to Canada on a super visa and then apply to sponsor her through the regular family class stream once CIC begins accepting applications again in January.
