I need a suggestion. We applied for PR application under CEC in July 2014. So far we have recieved AOR and waiting for MR in coming months.
My wife had a divorce from her past marriage in Canada in Jan2014. But her divorce certificate has wrong Marriage Date and Place of Marriage. She raised question to the lawyer on that time, but he said its not gonna changed. So we used the wrong date and marriage place (mentioned on divorce certificate) into our CEC forms and also submitted the copy of Divorce Certificate.
But now we went to another lawyer and the lawyer said thats clerical mistake (because court orders has correct marriage date), so we can go to court to get this fixed.
So my question is if we get this fixed on Divorce certificate. and send the amended copy of Divorce certificate to CIC, will this hurt our application for providing false information?
What should we do ?(Since CIC has her old marriage records)
Well im not an expert but if its on the papers it can be considered an error it depends on the vo you get just wait for and try and send in some more info maybe Jes_on will have some if he or she sees this they can help you out with some more info but i think you should call cic maybe they will have the info you need and if not wait for aor and then send in new info with a cover letter explaining.
No as long as you can justify it that its not your fault . Once you get it corrected send a drafted letter explaining your situation . I think it would not cause any problem . Wait for more people to comment.
Well if you have Aor you can send info to update your information with a copy of the new document might help send it both electronically and by mail because i saw a case where a guy got turned down they said he didnt send any information so send it both ways would be my recommendation.
if it was not your fault i dont think so i had a case with my work permit a while back something similar and because it was a mistake made by a third party they didnt penalize me for it just explain that the mistake was on the part of what ever agency issued the certificate which you got your information from then request a gcms notes about a week after to see if any thing is happening with your application.
You just send the correction and let them know the change needed , rest as ball is pushed in CIC court , let them come up with what they need .
Unnecessary documentation need to be avoided for any hassles going forward I believe .
