Hi All,
I am currently based in india and looking for options to immigratet to Canada on closed work permit route
One of my relative living there suggets I can get a closed work permit visa to work unter their payroll for supermarket jobs/gas stations etc.
I want to know if this is doable and find jobs (i was told the sponsering company will place me in such jobs)
I have been working in hotel industry for last 13 years as front office manager and 36 years old and married with a kid.
fee free to be as critical as you want.
thanks

to get a closed WP an employer has to get a LMIA to demonstrate that there is nobody that they can recruit in Canada that can fulfil the post. I think that trying to prove there is nobody in Canada who could work in supermarkets or gas stations would be impossible and a waste of $1000 on their part.

As said above, you need to find an employer who is not only willing to give you a job offer but who is also willing to obtain an approved LMIA. This is a long and expensive process for the employer and they have to prove no Canadian could be hired for the role. Generally speaking, it is extremely difficult to find employers who are willing to go through this process - even more difficult now with COVID-19 related job losses.
If you want to immigrate to Canada, my recommendation would be to forget about security a job offer + LMIA so that you can apply for a closed work permit and to look for other ways of immigrating that do not require a job offer or work permit. Good luck.

apparently a solicitor/consultancy has offered me to do all processing and land me a job...so I presume they want to keep me under their payroll and pay them commission from my salary..
Don't know how they do that but any advice will be welcome!

is there a list of jobs we can qualify and resonbly demonstrate there is a shortage?

Suggest you be very careful. Most job offers are scams.
If you are asking to pay any money in exchange for the job then it's a scam. Anything that offers free accommodations or food or flights is also a scam.

I'm not sure (but doubt it). One thing is certain, it definitely wouldn't be unskilled jobs like Supermarket or gas station attendant.

it sounds like either a scam or Modern Slavery (probably the former) but still requires somebody to spend 2-3 months and a lot of THEIR money demonstrating that you are so unique that there is nobody available in Canada who can do what you do.

not asked to pay money for job etc...but expenses for visa fee etc and they will put me in a job ...i.e. non skilled job
so they only make money by taking comission from my regular salary as I cannot easily switch jobs and have to work for their consultantcy/agency

yes that was my first thought , but this is not a random guy on internet but a real person/solicitor/agency based in Canada known through my close relative

but you can't get a work permit for most jobs without a LMIA and you won't get a LMIA for unskilled work. Anyone who tells you otherwise is scamming you.

Sounds suspect. But obviously your call.

no I am not going to blindly go, so is I am here asking questions, thanks for your valuble input
Hello everyone,
I have got a job which is exempted from the LMIA i.e. Charity and religious work.
I have got done my bio-metrics and medical in January 2021.
Can anyone guide what is the next step in the process?
If I get work permit under LMIA exempt category and I work for more than a year in ON, will I be considered as an experienced class category for PR?
