Hi guys I need an advise on what to do with my situation now. Undeclared marital status, landed in canada as single but the fact is I am married. Now I am divorced, and I am about to apply permanent residency soon ( I don't have kids to be sponsored way back home). My question is do I still need to update CIC about my marital status? Thank you so much.
the best thing is to consult with legal advisor(lawer)in canada... and when you will fill the application just state that you are divorced... because there will be background check, don't risk the case. You just need to state when you were married and when divorced

That lessens the severity of your untruthfullness, slightly.
All it takes is for your ex-spouse (or anyone that knows the truth) to contact CIC and inform them that you lied on your WV. This could open up a Pandora's Box for you.
