Sometimes the media will do a story about some immigration or refugee case that seems really badly handled - sometimes the outrage or the publicity can get CIC moving. There was a case in Saskatoon last year where a man was going to be deported back to Burma. The newspaper printed an article, protests were planned, and the gov't relented and let him stay.
