Hi all,

Hope someone can help me figure out the correct NOC I should use. I have one year of experience as a Electrical designer. My job title is Engineer-in-Training - Electrical Designer. I can't decide if I should go with NOC 2133 or 2241. Only two points in both NOCs description match my job duties. My supervisor is open to rewording or modifying my job description as needed.

My questions/concerns:

1. Which NOC code should I use, NOC 2133 or 2241? If you have other recommendations, please let me know
2. I will appreciate it if you can also help me reword my job responsibilities to fit in better with the NOC description.

Here are my job duties:
  • Design underground and overhead electrical distribution infrastructure
  • Develop detailed designs following applicable standards, submit design packages for approvals and issue designs for construction
  • Assist professional engineers to perform calculations to determine the feasibility of a design
  • Produce project estimates, construction scope descriptions and material take-offs
  • Work with drafting team to develop detailed CAD drawings following drafting standards
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines for feedback about several design aspects
  • Prepare technical reports and other related documents to support documentation process
  • Respond to information requests from site and provide construction support
  • Project coordination with customers, municipal authorities, other utilities, and various stakeholders
  • Assist project management team with tracking project progress and customer coordination
Thank you so much in advance!

@legalfalcon I would appreciate your response

Thank you. I understand that 2133 is a better choice but I read in other threads that the job duties should match atleast 60% of the duties mentioned in the NOC. I think only 30% of my duties match. Is that going to be a problem? Can you think of any other NOC that will closely match my job duties?

i am not related to engineering profession so i am unable to fetch. you will have to research it yourselves

Ok thanks. These are the only two that I could find for electrical utility related work.

Is it true that there should be more than a 60% match? There's no way I can include other duties mentioned in the NOC as they are not related to my job. I'm concerned that my PR will be rejected for this reason. I couldn't find this information on IRCC website.

Then in that case you will need to search for the NOC with more matching duties

Hey my job is also as Electrical Designer and had confusion regarding the same fact to choose which NOC my duties closely resembles it's not exact to NOC 2133 now 21310. If that's good than is Electrical Designer job title eligible for recently laid out new category based draw?
