Hi, I am a Canadian citizen and sponsoring my husband. We got married last year. The question I have is regarding how should I file my taxes for previous year. I need to file taxes for 2013 and 2014. We got married at the end of 2013 and have been living together for last 3 years. The confusion about the whole process is that my husband got out of status due to some unavoidable circumstances. I have already checked that u don't need to have status for applying for inland. My only question is how I go about filing my taxes for the last 2 years. Should I include him when I file my taxes. And is there any tax obligations for him as well even though he is out of status and not working. If anybody can shed some light on it, it would highly appreciated. He was on a student permit before being out of status.
Do they need his SIN number in my tax forms? Coz he doesn't have a SIN card right now and I don't know how to explain it to the tax people that he's out of status
